TCM’s CLEAN & GREEN CONFERENCE FEATURES CANDIDATES’ TAKE ON ALTERNATIVE TECHNOLOGIES Obama, McCain Energy Advisors Will Square Off at Green Town Hall Meeting

ROCKVILLE, MD (September 25, 2008) – The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), representing more than 500 companies in the nation’s second-largest technology hub, is hosting a presidential candidate’s “Green Energy Town Hall Meeting,” at the Clean & Green Tech Conference, October 2, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency, Bethesda

In their first joint appearance, Scott Sklar, energy adviser for the Senator Barack Obama campaign and KP Lau, energy adviser for the Senator John McCain campaign, will present their candidates plans for promoting clean and alternative technologies. Participants at the Clean and Green Tech Conference will be asked to cast a green vote at the conclusion of the segment, based solely on each candidates green energy policy.

“The Clean and Green tech conference is bringing together the region’s thought leaders on one of the most pressing topics of the day,” said Rick Harris, executive director of TCM’s Tech Alliance Division. “With Maryland’s strength as a technology hub, its proximity to the nation’s capital, we are uniquely positioned to assume a leadership role in green innovation.”

Later, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot will give a luncheon address on the economics and politics of clean technology. Additional topics on the day’s agenda include alternative energy technology; the legislative and regulatory landscape; new investment opportunities; clean technology development and financing; energy efficiency procurement strategies and commercialization of technologies.

Also at the conference, TCM will unveil its new Green Energy Purchasing Program for its members and demonstrate how businesses throughout the Mid-Atlantic can reduce their energy costs through easy-to-follow energy audits and strategic energy reduction plans.
